Hi Phil, I'm a semianry student over at Emory and I found your blog after visiting North Ave last Sunday. I have a great resource for you! Central Presbyterian Church houses the Outreach and Advocacy Center (http://www.centraloutreachandadvocacy.org/) and I have a student placement there. We are a hub for social services in the city - including MARTA cards, indentification, a small food pantry and job skills program. Kim's situation, because she wasn't actually homeless, is unique. But, I'm actually in the process of revamping Central's social agency database - if you'd like me to make a copy for you to have at the church I'd be glad to. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you want more information. The web of social service agencies in Atlanta is huge! If I can be of help please let me know. :)

Peace,
Brekke

I had lunch and conversation today with Rodney Fuller. He does have a good sense of what the needs potential employers are in general and a good ear for relating to the needs of a specific work environment. We don't currently have any vacancies, but I'm looking forward to partnering with him and would be glad to encourage anyone else to open up to the possibility of hiring his referrals.

We just featured a wonderful article by Monica Donohue where she speaks of Marvin reciting this poem. Here is a link: http://hopeandhealing.org/contentPage.aspx?resource_id=319. It is true that you can feel the presence of God in unusual places.

I could spare a few minutes on the phone this week to discuss job searches and employers' openness. If you would like to meet, the first week in November would be better. I'd suggest you bring Prince into the loop and I could try to think of some other potential employers to invite.
